People who have only been using it a few months are also using other actives, including exfoliants like AHA/BHA.
Someone new to it shouldn’t be using other actives at all (especially not exfoliants).
Eliminating other unnecessary actives that were breaking my barrier like the salicylic acid wash I was using once per day and instead switching to gentle cleansers.

Cosrx BHA Blackhead clearing Power liquid
Something like the COSRX BHA Blackhead Power Liquid a few times a week after your toner would help clear them out over time.
BHA would be best because it gets down in the pore.

With occasional gentle chemical exfoliation helps the best.
On the day I apply AHA/BHA (which is whenever I feel like my skin is looking dull and feeling too textured)
I just give it 30 mins and wash the AHA/BHA off before proceeding with the other things in my routine.

What worked for me in the past was AHA/BHA.
I've been using Azelaic Acid and Epiduo for years and when I got that, it didn't go away. What worked for me in the past was AHA/BHA.

Should teens have complicated skincare routines?

A gentler cleanser, a simple moisturizer, SPF, a clarifying toner, and some kind of active for my hormonal jawline cystic acne would have done me wonders.
I was using shit like ahas and bhas and I ended up frying my moisture barrier
I think learning to routinely wash your face is important as a teen, just like showering regularly and brushing your teeth.
