I have found The Ordinary's Niacinamide works reaaally well when I'm about to have a breakout, just sort of reduces sebum production and stops it in its tracks.
It's suuper inexpensive, and is fairly nonirritating.
It's good to let your skin adjust between new treatments though to see what really works and what doesn't.

I now use the Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid and Niacinamide in the AM
maybe a niacinamide serum for discoloration

It weirdly didn’t bring up tret! It was very stuck on niacinamide though
...and now we’re all very loudly using niacinamide like it’s a personality trait.
